The 7-Step Advanced Leadership Program
1. ORGANIZATIONAL DIAGNOSIS: A SELF ASSESSMENT
Objective: To first identify and then analyze those factors that have affected the company’s growth and development.
- Where are we now - our current reality
- Where do we want to go - longer range objectives
- How do we want to get there - strategies and tactics
- What mileposts shall we pass - control points
Common Goals and Issues that can be addressed:
- Provide all employees (all levels or a select group) the opportunity to express concerns, become involved, clarify expectations and make recommendations for positive change.
- Establish a company-wide method (work out process) for on-going problem solving, innovative idea generation, and sustained accountability for priority direction.
- Develop a profile of the organization -- an outline of its important features and how they are helping to solve or block solutions to organizational growth.
- Clarify the thinking of the top group (management team) by creating a list of priorities that are linked to strategic goals.
- Provide a forum from which may come a transition group to define and coordinate action plans.
- Establish and maintain a sense of urgency that can carry through the next 18 months.
- Reach agreement on which organizational factors, if improved, will have the quickest, most direct impact on productivity
- Help to move the organization from a problem orientation to more of a future-focused, change-oriented company. [ Step 2: Vision ]
